Living Room Colour Schemes:

The colour scheme of a living room should be cheerful, inviting and different. This is a place where you would like to spend your time with your guests, friends and relatives. Even you spend most of your day here in this room. Hence we do have to give good attention to the colour sheme of this room.

  • By the use of appropriate colour schemes in a living room you can change the mood and the overall appearance of the room.
  • Try to paint one wall in a vibrant colour scheme like orange or red or yellow.
  • It is best to have the rest of the walls painted in light colours like white or ivory or lime yellow etc.
  • You can have some accent colours added to the room environment. Hence use of bright blue/green etc in the cushion covers or lamp shades or curtains
  • Try to have the colour of the furniture in soft colours like ivory/white tome if bright colours are every where.
  • But if the colour scheme is light and sober and monochrome then there should be energetic colours and patterns in the furniture and soft furnishings.
  • You can have a theme in your living room and paint one wall in green /blue and lots of green leaf/plant prints in the cushions and curtain covers. This will create a theme of a tropical forest with green and blue as the main imposing colours. There can be some plants/fountains to accessorize the theme of the room. Try to repeat the accent colours on pots, lamp shades, carpets to bring a sense of continuity in the room.
  • Colour of Living rooms should be such that it makes the room big and spacious and airy. Do not apply dark and bold colours everywhere if the room is too small. In that case have a single tone of a soft colour with some accent colours in some furniture/furnishings.
  • You can even use complementary colours like green and red, blue and orange, purple and yellow in the walls and in furnishings to have a sense of completeness.
  • Pastel shades like like blue, beige and ochre can be used if a serene and tranquil atmosphere is required.
  • Ceiling can be painted in white colour to reflect light and maximise the visual space.
  • But if you plan to have false ceilings then these can be painted in some different colours matching with the walls.
  • If you want to have the living room a little different then paint some of the walls in textured paints or have nice looking wallpapers in
  • some of the walls keeping a basic theme in mind.

All the above tips will definitely help to make your living room look lively and vibrant even in very dull rainy or winter seasons.
Try these out and let me know if you like !! :)
